A quick review of my achievements and discoveries (art related or not) for the quarter allows me to acknowledge my achievements, understand where I still need work, and remember some of the new and exciting things I may have seen or done outside of the studio.
This is not intended to be an exhaustively detailed examination of all that has passed, but more an easily digestible bullet point record.
Quarter 1 – 2021
The start of 2021 can be best described as hot and busy, but enjoyable all the same. COVID seems almost a distant memory with things more or less back to normal here. Consider ourselves very lucky.
Meanwhile…
Art Achievements
- Kept up my regular gouache portrait study every second Friday on my day off from my day job.
- Completed a graphic for an upcoming music single release due out in April.
- Completed more figure drawings on my digital tablet.
- Instigated regular sketchbook practice in the mornings before my day job.
Live Performances
- Went to the Beer & BBQ Festival which was a great evening of good food, great drinks and fantastic live music.
- Attended and helped out on the Adelaide Fringe Festival event ‘wild’ which was put together by a friend of mine.
- Took the family into Gluttony at the Adelaide Fringe Festival to see the sights and checked out Dan Acher’s Borealis which was pretty impressive.
Books & Podcasts
- Completed reading Use of Weapons and The Crow Road, both by Iain M Banks.
- Began reading The State of the Art, also by Iain M Banks – bit of a theme going there…
Movies & Television
- Took the family to see Raya and the Last Dragon at the cinema which was great.
In addition I have been flat out at my day job which and restricted any major projects being achieved by I feel like I’ve been getting enough bits and pieces done anyway to keep the skills from becoming atrophied.
Hoping the next part of the year is as busy and exciting as this last.
