A quick review of my achievements and discoveries (art related or not) for the quarter allows me to acknowledge my achievements, understand where I still need work, and remember some of the new and exciting things I may have seen or done outside of the studio.
This is not intended to be an exhaustively detailed examination of all that has passed, but more an easily digestible bullet point record.
Quarter 4 – 2020
While COVID-19 is still something effecting all of our lives, I’m very thankful to be living here in South Australia where things still seem to be under reasonable control. There was a small blip on the radar at one point that threw us all into full lockdown, but this ended up being based on some questionable intel so the pressure was off again after only a couple of days.
For whatever reason, things have been clicking back into place again around the studio and I’ve been able to get a few things done.
Meanwhile…
Art Achievements
- Completed a new commission piece for happy clients.
- Knocked off a couple of band logos and a book cover for graphics clients.
- Practiced figure drawing on my new digital tablet which has been fun.
- Kept up my regular output by scheduling a gouache portrait study for every second Friday on my day off from my day job.
Books & Podcasts
- Completed reading The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks
- Began reading Use of Weapons, also by Iain M Banks. Have been really getting in this ‘Culture’ series, of which this is the third book.
Coming towards the end of the year and the Xmas Holiday period, I’ve decided to take a decent break and take most of January off to come back completely refreshed and raring to go, hopefully with the end of COVID on the very near horizon.
Take care everyone, stay safe and see you in the New Year.
