Tim Eden. Break Through The Fog 5, 2020. Gouache on paper, 210 x 297

Gouache has the versatility of either being watered down to a very thin waterpaint like wash, or used thickly more like an opaque arcrylic.

Using it like a wash lets me build up the painting gradually but I am looking to work it in a more opaque form going forward so there is less ability to play it safe.

I want to have the confidence to hit the paper with a single stroke and know I won’t have to endlessly refine and tweak for ever more.

Improved skill comes with time, practice and persistence but thankfully there is no need to rush, there will always be more to learn.
