They say a dog is a man’s best friend.

Well Coda was my best mates best friend and by extension I was pretty close to the little fella also – maybe like that uncle who you find out years later is not actually related to your family at all.

I watched him grow from a pup that never seemed to run out of energy no matter how many times or how far you could throw that damn ball away, to a tired old dog with grey whiskers who’d drop the ball a good few meters from you to make sure you didn’t throw the damn thing away again.

It was a sad day when he passed (14 years was a pretty good run) and I wanted to paint a small image for my friend for him to remember his great mate by, and in a way it was my way of saying goodbye also.
