Painting from life and less from photo reference is something I aspire to do more of.

I recently acquired on-line a life sized replica human skull to aid in another of my goals – to learn and better understand human anatomy – and it came in handy as the subject for this value study.

Don’t be too surprised if Dana makes the odd appearance every now and then (yep, bad X-files pun but it’s stuck now).

On a side note, the more I learn about human anatomy and how the body works and moves, I’m amazed how much of what’s going on inside our skin we just take for granted. It really is an amazing collection of finely tuned elements that just goes on working with a minimum of fuss – really fascinating… at least I think so anyway.
