Working full time at a day job and spending quality time with my wife an young family means I need to be disciplined with any spare time I have in order to keep practicing my art and improving my skills.

At the end of the day it really just comes down to how badly you want it.

It would be easy to whine about being too tired and plonking down in front of the TV to veg, but when you are motivated, doing the work doesn’t really seem like such a chore.

However, what little time I currently have is going to be compressed that little bit further now with the birth of our third child mid yesterday morning.

It will be interesting to see how we go, but I know that if I give my undivided attention to which ever area of my life is the focus at that moment – whether it is family or art – and remain flexible, I’m sure it will be a fantastic period of growth in both areas.

A busy, lively household is one that is full of life – and as my lovely wife says, ‘Don’t wish away this time, cherish it because it will pass all too quickly.’
